“We’re Back”
By: Roy Pulfrey

The people all talked when we started the journey,
“Rebuilding” they said, “There’ll be no state tourney.”
But we knew better, on thing is a fact,
We were ready to work to try to go back.

The only returner, Mike’s skills are ample.
A solid performer, he leads by example.
Raasch took new faces and showed them his style,
He molded a winner while battling West Nile.

With a new point guard it’s a coach’s dream,
When your only advice is , “Bo, Shoot the dang thing.”
Controlling the paint, boards and points too,
An easy command is, “Go get ‘em Drew.”

To stop a big scorer, you get in their face.
One thing’s for sure, they’ll be staring at Chase.
And this is for certain, we all can agree,
If you leave Zach open, he’ll deliver a three.

We also have depth which is really sweet.
You can send in a sub and not miss a beat.
There’s Brady and Brian and Donte’ at call,
And the rest of the guys, hard workers all.

Don’t get me wrong, the start wasn’t stellar,
We lost our first game, we were right in the cellar.
Raasch rallied the troops saying, “Hold your heads high.
“It’s just the first game, we’re not gonna die.”

Everyone heeded the Lion King’s roar.
We had a good season, we lost only four.
Into the District as seed number one.
Hold onto your hats, it’s gonna get fun.

Our District was tight, a heated affair.
We started out first with Hitchcock-Tulare.
A seesaw battle, lead changes each way.
Mike pulled us through with a last second trey.

We had to beat Warner to earn the crown.
It wouldn’t be easy to take them down.
We expected a war, and so it would be.
They finally succumbed in the third OT.

Next was the Region and Rosholt. Roll Pride!
Again we would be a thorn in their side.
We played very well and they soon were our feast.
‘Cuz Bo was Bo, and Planteen was a beast.

Our fans will leave town with Barnett in their sights.
Last one out, please turn out the lights.
We’ve done it again, going back to the show.
Here we go Lions, here we go!
